Update: rally and press conference starts at 5pm. Please arrive before 5 if you can to sign up for your spot to testify. Tesoro Savage has proposed a 360,000 barrel per day oil terminal for the publicly owned Port of Vancouver, WA and we need to show up in mass at the FIRST PUBLIC HEARING. The companies must get approval from Governor Inslee to build the facility because the quantity of oil proposed to be shipped is so large. The Energy Facility Site Evaluation Council (EFSEC) will make a recommendation to the Governor on the unprecedented project. They need to hear a resounding NO from the community surrounding the project. The event photo came from the Lac Megantic disaster in June, where the same type of train carrying the same type of oil exploded, killing 50 people and burning a hole in the heart of the town. Tessoro just spent the past three weeks trying to cover up an oil spill from a pipeline on the way to a rail terminal in North Dakota. We won't let that happen on the Columbia!
