Have you heard of Cascadia? Do you identify as a Cascadian? Do you want a sticker of the flag? Come to the CascadiaNow! meet and greet for the Portland and surrounding regions and talk to other people about what Cascadia means to you. There will be information about the different volunteer programs and project opportunities within the grassroots, non-profit, organization of CascadiaNow! that wants to hear from you! There is another Cascadia meeting planned for the same day. In the interest of allowing space for everyone to meet and get the most out of the meeting we will want to show up early. All the finest dress, art, and music from past, present, and future collide in an epic evening of dance, celebration, and time travel… Are you from the vintage colonial old west? The 1955 "Enchantment Under The Sea" dance? The rockin' 80's? A bizarre future filled with hover boards? Or an entirely different era altogether (Retro Robot? Caveman?) Regardless of your choice, release your creativity and dress yourself distinctly from the time-continuum for the biggest, funnest, and trippiest NYE ever at Manifestation with a delicious line-up of rock, big-band orchestra, and timeless good-times with your favorite band of misfits! 8p Doors 9:00p Mammoth in Space (aka Darka & Miri) (with 2 more sets later, approx 11:00 PM and at 12:45 AM) 9:45p Kris Deelane & The Sharp Little Things 11:15p The Saloon Ensemble 1a Bobwite Big Band 2:30a Montel Spinozza spins vinyl afterparty 5a Please Leave Responsibly Manifestation 2020 SE Bush $25 - $30 Cash @ Door (Sliding Scale) (Reduced price after 1:30a) Full bar selling beer, wine, cocktails, and champaign! www.saloonensemble.com Kris Deelane & The Sharp Little Things - Kris is known as the Wild Child Angst Rock Chanteuse! Born and raised in the fertile LA punk and post punk scenes of the 70's and 80's. Kris with her band The Sharp Little Things combine elements of LA icons X, Wendy O and The Plasmatics, and her febrile imagination pushing out loud guitars, louder vocals and the angsty thoughts of her deepest inner workings. The Saloon Ensemble - This Portland-based performance troupe has been entertaining audiences since 2005 with epic original, danceable, and comedic productions in their hometown, San Francisco, L.A., Burning Man, Oregon County Fair, and surrounding areas (“The Nitemare B4 Xmas,” “Horns and Halos,” “The End of the World,” “Wings of the Cock Ball," "All of Burning Man in a Day”). Now finally home from the California tour of their all-original production "J.A.W.Z. THE MUSICAL - IN 3D!," these whiskey-lovin' cowboys are ready to get 'Back to the Future' and play their half-naked Saloony guts out. As with all their NYE events, it's sure to be a special custom set filled with danceable, laughable, and raunchy surprises... The Bobwhite Big Band - A 17 piece swing orchestra ready to whisk you into timeless ecstasy. Filled with the best horn players in town, this grand finale to our evening will take you to the wildest stratosphere of big-band swing. The 1950's ain't got nothing on this. This explosion will definitely make yours a night to remember! Darka & Miri / Mammoth in Space - This legendary duo, often seen with Accordion and Guitar, are sassy and soulful in every way. You won't believe the power, cleverness, and musicianship these two have to offer. We're thrilled to have them open the event and play throughout the evening… "Mammoth in Space" is Darka Dusty & Miri Stebivka's electronic incarnation, which will set the retro-futuristic vibe at the start of the evening. They will also be doing specially-chosen covers and originals to rock your world. Joining Darka & Miri on several numbers will be incomparable bass player extraordinaire, Greg Hyatt! Montel Spinozza - Only the best DJ in Portland. All vinyl from the 60's, 70's, and 80's - all rare and extraordinary. The perfect finish to carry us all Back to the Future… or at least until the sun rises…. http://www.facebook.com/events/366489960194078/
