We are excited to mobilize our communities in the upcoming legislative session to show our elected leaders that the people of Oregon refuse to perpetuate discrimination in our state and will defend our youth. We will need to collect stories, write to our elected officials, and lobby in Salem on behalf of these bills. Some of the issues Basic Rights is supporting during the 2015 Oregon Legislative session include: Youth Mental Health Protection Act End Profiling Ban the Box Increasing the Minimum Wage Earned Sick Days for Workers We are also rolling out a social media campaign and we need your help by sending in baby photos of you or a loved one along with why you support banning conversion therapy. The #BornPerfect campaign will showcase the individuals who were born perfect and talk about why this harmful practice should not be in our state. We are kicking off this campaign and others with an open house in Portland. The event will be an opportunity to learn more about what is happening with LGBT justice work in Oregon and how to get involved with the legislative work.
