The Polish Ambassador, Ayla, Mr. Lif, and Liminus, and the whole Pushing Through the Pavement crew will be working and planting at each site, traveling alongside the bicycle powered sound system that will bring us from site to site. The Urban Farm Collective is a program that brings neighbors together to transform vacant lots into neighborhood food gardens for the purposes of education, community building and improving food security, all through a shared economy model. We'll be holding Portland's Permaculture Action Day at Deekum and Turner Gardens - two of Portland's Urban Farm Collective sites in Northeast Portland. We'll be prepping beds for winter growing, seeding cover crop, and planting winter crops and a fruit tree guild. Come learn how to farm the city, and in the winter no less! Then, join us at Alberta Park for continued networking, a silent disco and local community building, kaleidoscope yoga, and delightful finale. An apple pie bake-off… bring your best pie! We'll have three categories for prizes: 1) traditional apple pie; 2) non-traditional apple pie (get creative!); and 3) youth pie (baked by someone 13 or under)) Apple cider pressing... sweet nectar revelry! We'll be using our our cool DIY apple press (which includes a garbage disposal and a car jack) Aaaaand… THE JOYOUS GRAND OPENING OF THE MAGNIFICENT YURT PERCH, collaboratively constructed by the fabulous Jenny Leis and friends!!
