For nearly two years, thousands of volunteers, hundreds of small businesses, and several hundred more coalition partners did something historic: We stood up against some of the largest corporations in the world, and told them that it’s time they pay their fair share. With your help, we created the largest coalition ever seen in Oregon. More than 300 organizations came together and reached 225,000 voters. Together, we sent a message loud and clear: Oregonians are ready to hold big corporations accountable, and we're ready for game-changing investments in schools and critical services. Your support helped get us this far — and we want to celebrate with you! Please join us at the Yes on 97 Election Night Watch Party, where we'll celebrate all our hard work! When: 7pm, Tuesday November 8, 2016 Where: Room F151 at the Oregon Convention Center (777 NE Martin Luther King Jr Blvd, Portland) https://www.facebook.com/events/215901672178946/

The PUBLIC table will be seen and heard outside the Oregon Business Association’s Statesman Dinner on October 17th, 2013 at 5:30pm. Join educators, community members, students, and parents at the Convention Center to protest the lack of public input in decisions! We, the people, should be the ones sitting at the decision making table, not corporate lobbyists. State representatives and local officials should be coming to the people’s table asking us what OUR priorities are for OUR children, and how we would like OUR money spent. We are done “choosing” budget cuts from their Austerity menu. We are done ordering entrees like high stakes testing, merit pay side dishes, and common core desserts. Teachers’ working conditions are students’ learning conditions! So are their parents’ working conditions and wages. Housing and public heath conditions are students’ learning conditions. They all impact the quality of life in our communities and the ability of our children to learn. http://www.facebook.com/events/296548047152265/

The Community Leadership Summit 2013 brings together community leaders, organizers and managers and the projects and organizations that are interested in growing and empowering a strong community. The event pulls together the leading minds in community management, relations and online collaboration to discuss, debate and continue to refine the art of building an effective and capable community. At the heart of Community Leadership Summit 2013 is an open unconference-style event in which everyone who attends is welcome to lead and contribute sessions on any topic that is relevant. These sessions are very much discussion sessions: the participants can interact directly, offer thoughts and experience, and share ideas and questions. These unconference sessions are also augmented with a series of presentations from leaders in the field, panel debates and networking opportunities.
