Bright Way Zen Center Portland, OR Wednesday, August 27th 6-9pm $50 sliding scale Register ahead of time: firstname.lastname@example.org or call Domyo - 971-207-1843 As we go about our everyday lives, how can we thoroughly honor the deep truth of interdependence we have discovered through Dharma practice? How can we expand the scope of our practice to include the social, political, economic, and ecological systems in which we participate? How do we open ourselves to the truth of suffering and injustice without being overwhelmed by grief, anger, or despair? This workshop is geared toward Buddhist practitioners, and is an invitation to explore our relationship with ourselves, our planet, and the state of the world with compassionate awareness as our guide. Meditation – as an engaged practice and an attitude of mind – has the capacity to heal and transform our relationship with the self, with one another, and with the world at large. Through sitting meditation, relational mindfulness, writing exercises, guided imagery, a Dharma talk, and facilitated group discussion, we will engage in a process to transform our pain for the world into empowered presence and compassionate action. We will allow our Dharma practice to deepen our embodiment of sustainability and ecological consciousness. This work integrates meditation and mindfulness practice with The Work That Reconnects, as created by eco-philosopher Joanna Macy, and inspiration/teachings from the natural world. http://www.facebook.com/events/258655627669377/
