After a whirlwind campaign that received 19.36% of the vote or 17,797 votes with an all-volunteer campaign, $50 contribution limit, less than $5000 raised, and having filed on the second to last day before the filing deadline, it's clear that there is fertile ground to organize political movements in Portland that can actually give power back to the people through the electoral system. How we do this, the way we organize ourselves, what we stand for, how we pick our candidates, and how this relates to existing grassroots movements is totally up in the air. Let's gather together and talk about these ideas and see whether we want to move forward toward building a real coalition that can take power back for the people. http://www.facebook.com/events/549341505175593/
