The World Game concept was developed as a direct alternative to World War. The idea is a game that motivates and coordinates people to the same level and urgency as World War, but in the service of all of humanity. The goal of the World Game is "Make the world work for 100% of humanity, in the shortest possible time, through spontaneous cooperation, without ecological damage or disadvantage to anyone." Wanna play? Come join us on the Sunday after the Summer Solstice for food, dancing, and plotting the greatest game ever played. If you want to get involved, here's a great place to start: Cook a meal for 7 people, and invite 6 of your friends to come eat with you in the park. Over your potluck picnic, you brainstorm as group things you could do in the next 3 months that will make the world a better place. You can also just show up, of course. If would like to compete in the Cook-Off, bring food to submit, and you MUST include an ingredients list, and a recipe! We'll have awards for the best dishes in different categories! Dinner will be from 6-8pm, 8-9pm will be announcements and awards Followed by a Silent Dance Party at 9pm. The first round of the World Game will be played between the Summer Solstice (June 21), and the Fall Equinox (September 21st). Teams must do anything they think will make the world a better place, and make a 4 minute video explaining what they did, why the did it, how it went, and what they learned, and post it online (#worldgame) In September, all of the videos submitted will go toe to toe in a single elimination tournament and awards ceremony, as everyone who participated votes for their favorite projects, until the final 2 winners of first round are chosen. In addition to being a lot of fun, and an excuse to get together, this event is designed to spur collective, small scale, community action. In order to "enter" you must create a short, succinct video explaining your project, which has the added benefit of allowing the idea to spread throughout the internet, inspiring more people, and hopefully creating a chain reaction. This game has been designed as a place where all activists, artists, healers, and humans can share the little (or not so little) things they do to help make the world better. If even 10% of humanity was actively engaged in doing this, I am convinced a world that works for 100% would not be far off. Healing our world is going to take all of us. The best place to start is where we are, with what we have. GAME ON.
