Join us for Sunday Parkways in NE Portland on July 23rd! FOR MORE INFO AND TO SIGN UP: https://www.portlandoregon.gov/transportation/67623 City of Portland Sunday Parkways, presented by Kaiser Permanente, is a series of five community events that promote healthy living by opening the city's largest public space - its streets - for people to walk, bike, roll, and discover active transportation! Besides all the active outdoor fun, the events strive to foster civic pride, stimulate economic development, and represent the investments that communities, businesses and government bodies are making in Portland's vitality, livability, and diversity. Last year over 100,000 people attended the events, with 250+ volunteers making it all possible. The second event of the season is coming up in North Portland on June 25th, and we need your help to make it a success! Here's how we need your help... • Mobile Superheroes to ride the route on your bike, keeping a watchful eye on the neighborhood and backing up the Intersection Superheroes. • Intersection Superheroes to command the barricades, making sure participants are safe from cars and neighbors are happy. Each shift lasts no longer than 3.5 hours, but you may sign up for more than one! ...and here's how we show our appreciation! Every Sunday Parkways volunteer receives: • an HEATHER PURPLE Sunday Parkways volunteer t-shirt • refreshments before your shift • support before, during and after the event • a 2017 Sunday Parkways bandanna - volunteer for any three Sunday Parkways shifts across the season and it's yours! FOR MORE INFO AND TO SIGN UP: https://www.portlandoregon.gov/transportation/67623 Are you interested in helping with Sunday Parkways but July 23rd doesn't work for your schedule? Volunteer for one of the other Sunday Parkways events on: • 8/20/2017 in Outer Northeast • 9/24/2017 in Sellwood/ Milwaukie More information on these upcoming events can be found here: https://www.portlandoregon.gov/transportation/58929 See you in North East Portland! Well, The Polish Ambassador, Mr. Lif, and Ayla Nereo are coming through town on the Pushing Through the Pavement Permaculture Action Tour. Sunday is the Permaculture action day, where we'll spend all day prepping gardens to be in top shape for next spring, to produce food for the Global Permaculture Revolution. We'll be capping off this day with a Silent Disco under the covered basketball court at Alberta Park, Rain or Shine! Come get your hands dirty! Then get funky! If you don't have your own headphones, you can borrow some! We ask for a sliding scale contribution of $5-$15, 100% of which will go to support Community Supported Everything! Volunteers who work all day don't have to pay (but can donate if they want to) http://www.facebook.com/events/363673303800910/

Enough is enough. Recently Thai and Gio Gurule were assualted, and essentially JUMPED by the PPD (Portland Police Department) in the St. Johns neighborhood. 3-4 officers were caught on filming punching, twisting, kicking, and tazing a 16 year old youth who was not drinking, who was not smoking, who was doing nothing wrong other than the crime of walking while non-white. We told Mike Reese that we would not tolerate another event like this. Those boys were lucky to not have been killed by the obvious power tripping members of our heinous police force. So join us this friday the 19th at 5pm to demand justice! Never again will there be another Mike Brown, keaton otis, Aaron Cambell, James Chasse, and many MANY others murdered by the police. No justice, no peace! http://www.facebook.com/events/796611317056469/
