On Friday, May 25th: Youssoupha Sidibe Live at The Hallowed Halls 7pm-10pm $25 The Hallowed Halls- 4420 SE 64th Ave, PDX 97206 Tickets: Facebook: Join celebrated Senegalese Sufi Kora player Youssoupha Sidibe with special guest Open Heart Kirtan with Kavita Kat Macmillan for a night of devotional chanting and uplifting music. Doors open at 6:30pm More about Youssoupha and Open Heart Kirtan: Grammy nominated Youssoupha Sidibe was trained as a Kora player at the National Music Conservatory of Senegal over 20 years ago. His music fuses traditional West African sounds on the Kora with Sufi devotional chanting. Kavita is a yoga teacher and musician / performer with a deep study of Indian Classical vocal music and love for Kirtan & chanting. Kavita has over 18 years of yogic teaching, sharing kirtan & study of nada (sound) yoga experience. General presale tickets are $25. They will be $30 at the door. They are known for their special gift of bringing the audience into a vast and loving experience through their unique blend of exquisite voices with instruments of India and the West. Together they create music with beauty, passion, and reverence. Heather and Benjy have released five beautiful and well-loved albums of sacred chant music since 2003.
