Liberia ACTIVISTS of Oregon invites you to Celebrate Liberia’s Flag Day Join Us to Dine, Dance and Shop And Support Youth Democracy in Liberia Saturday, August 24, 2013 Grace Memorial Community Hall 1535 NE 17th Avenue Portland, OR 97232 Doors Open: 5:30 P.M. Event Begins: 6:00 P.M. Come and support the youth of Liberia as they strive to promote volunteer driven democracy for their generation. Driving votes. Driving leaders. Driving change. All Proceeds to Benefit the Liberia Bus Project Suggested Donation: $10.00 Festivities will include a Liberian Fashion Show, Cultural Performances, Authentic Liberian Dishes and a Liberian Marketplace selling clothes and arts. Why Now: On August 18, 2013 Liberia is poised to celebrate 10 years of sustainable peace after a 14-year civil war (1989-2003). With growth development and process over the past decade much work remains. In 2017, Liberians will vote for the next president. Liberia’s youth represent 60% of the current population and their involvement is critical. They must be properly educated and empowered to maintain and support the democracy, peace and stability Liberians have come to enjoy. About the Liberia Bus Project: The Liberia Bus Project is a volunteer driven democracy initiative for young people that aim at driving change in Liberia. This effort serves as a platform to ensure that young Liberians are actively involved in transforming the political system for the interest of Liberian citizens. Birthed after the Oregon Bus Project, the Liberia Bus Project, seeks to make real political change and empower a whole new generation in democracy.
