Will we see you on the river? Adopt-a-River! Want to learn about the Columbia while having fun? Be an Adopt-a-River volunteer with Columbia Riverkeeper! Our Adopt-a-River volunteer program is in its 9th year and is a great program for school groups, families, or individuals who want to give some time to our wonderful river. Visit your adopted site at least once per season and fill out our habitat assessment report on wildlife use, human activity, native and invasive species, and threats to habitat. It's that easy! We will train you on what to do if you see a river emergency such as an oil spill or illegal dumping. Tuning-in and watching the seasons change at your site is a great way to connect with the river. This volunteer opportunity fits any schedule whether you hae a couple hours a month or a couple hours several times a year. We will conduct three trainings this May: Portland 5/8 at the Metropolitan Workforce Training Center, Gresham 5/12 at Mount Hood Community College, and Hood River 5/14 at the Columbia Riverkeeper office. All trainings will be from 5:30-7:00 pm. RSVP to Volunteer@columbiariverkeeper.org or 541-387-3030.
