When do you wear a mask? Do you put one on consciously, in an attempt to protect? Do you find a mask slipping on instinctively in situations where you feel danger? Or are masks so commonplace for you that you barely recognize your own face, hiding underneath? Let's explore what it means to wear different faces, and share different truths, as the situations and circumstances in our lives shift and pulsate with change. In collaboration with CSE (Community Supported Everything: Portland's own innovative organization based in ideals of cooperative exchange and the gift economy), Vibrant Studios is pleased to present the Sunday Salon Series. Every other Sunday of the month features a local expert or artisan from a wide variety of fields: from storytelling, to cuisine, to visual art, to music and movement. Come engage in this unique opportunity to listen and discuss with a variety of Portland artists, foodies, and performers. A nourishing and delicious meal will be prepared for attendees, accompanied by local wines and vegan desserts. The theme of the March 9 event will be "Unmasking: the Trials of Telling the Truth," and we will celebrate how speaking truth in our life (or standing in the uneasiness of UNTRUTH!) can lead to curiosity, introspection, and awakening. The night's events will be facilitated by Sam Smith, and accompanied by the culinary musings of studio owner Sophie Lippert (who worked under James Beard nominated chef Anita Jaisinghani). The evening will include time for round-table discussion, questions, comments, and interaction with the group that has gathered. Our hope is to create an inspired shared space for fostering community, and establishing bonds with the incredible individuals of Portland who are interested in supporting, growing, and networking with local businesses and art experiences. Profits from this dinner will benefit both Community Supported Everything and Vibrant Studios in their efforts to create nurturing and fruitful opportunities for all members of the Portland community. HIGHLIGHTS: + Seasonal meal (gluten-free, dairy-free) utilizing local ingredients and chef Sophie Lippert. + Local artisan vegan desserts. + Wine from local vintners/ Local brews from CSB. + Facilitation by artist & storyteller Sam Smith. SLIDING DONATION: $10 - $25 http://www.facebook.com/events/801478199880146/

As we grow and change, we move naturally into different stages of our lives - reminiscent of seasonal changes in the natural world. How do you personally express these shifts? Do you find them painful, awkward, effortless, or invigorating? Let's explore together what it means to feel our cyclical lives, and the affect of rhythms on individuals and a greater collective whole. In collaboration with CSE (Community Supported Everything: Portland's own innovative organization based in ideals of cooperative exchange and the gift economy), Vibrant Studios is pleased to present a new Sunday Salon Series. Every other Sunday of the month will feature a local expert or artisan from a wide variety of fields: from storytelling, to cuisine, to visual art, to music and movement. Come engage in this unique opportunity to listen and discuss with a variety of Portland artists, foodies, and performers. A nourishing and delicious meal will be prepared for attendees, accompanied by local brews and vegan chocolates. The theme of the September 15 event will be "Changing of the Seasons," exploring the concept of a shift in our personal & societal terrains through words, music, or movement. We will share in a group about how seasonal shifts (both external and internal) can serve to bring us closer to our personal truth and authentic expression and connection. Though Salon evenings are usually facilitated by Sam Smith, the format this Sunday will be slightly more free-form -- riffing, in part, off the theme, and allowing for the night to unfold organically based on the needs and desires of the specific individuals in attendance. The stories, songs, and other expressive sharing that unfolds will be accompanied by the culinary musings of studio owner Sophie Lippert (who worked under James Beard nominated chef Anita Jaisinghani), and the evening will hold space for round-table discussion, sharing, and group interaction. Our hope is to create an inspired shared space for fostering community, and establishing bonds with the incredible individuals of Portland who are interested in supporting, growing, and networking with local businesses and art experiences.
