KBOO Radio
KBOO will devote the full day on February 11th to a special day of programming on the people's movement to take back the internet. A broad coalition of activist groups, companies, and online platforms will hold a worldwide day of activism in opposition to the NSA's mass spying regime on February 11th. Dubbed "The Day We Fight Back", the day of activism was announced on the eve of the anniversary of the tragic passing of activist and technologist Aaron Swartz. The protest is both in his honor and in celebration of the victory over the Stop Online Piracy Act two years ago this month, which he helped spur. KBOO will feature speeches by Aaron Swartz and other internet activists, as well as live interviews and updates on the day of action to pressure lawmakers to end mass surveillance -- of both Americans and the citizens of the whole world. This is KBOO's major fundraising drive of the year - we are trying to raise $125,000 in two weeks. These semi-annual membership drives are what sustain the station and allow us to remain independent - with 6,000 individual contributors, we aren't beholden to a single corporate overlord or foundation. This allows us to remain free and open to the community for our content and vision. KBOO is YOUR community radio station! Call 877-500-5266 (KBOO) before the 26th to support the station. And tune in! 90.7 FM - lots of amazing specials are being produced during this membership drive.

Friday July 19th - 8 am to 10 pm - Flash Drive Fundraiser - 90.7 FM Call 877-500-KBOO THIS Friday to support KBOO, or click here to donate online anytime. Join KBOO for an audio tour of the Southern hemisphere - from Antarctica (really) to the Equator, during our one-day (Winter) Flash Drive fundraiser. Winter, as it's all from the Southern hemisphere. While four continents are wholly or partially in this hemisphere, less than 15% of the world's population lives there. Our hosts will delve into issues of climate change, labor, sports and protest, interspersed with amazing music and finishing up the evening with guest deejays spinning some amazing new music from South America.
