Spring is sprouting and blooming, once again, at the Portland Audubon Native Plant Sale! All gardeners are welcome as we are eager to help you celebrate the growing season. Over 100 species of Oregon wildflowers, shrubs, and trees will be available to enhance your yard, woodland, or stream bank. Special shopping lists for shade, sun, butterflies, and hummingbirds are available as well as on-site plant experts to answer your questions. Information at the Backyard Habitat Certification Program table will include: → Program information → Removing Invasive plants → Planting With Native plants All events are free and open to the public. Proceeds benefit Portland Audubon programs such as nature education, wildlife sanctuaries, and wildlife rehabilitation.

The Portland Audubon Society welcomes author and Portland hiking expert Laura O. Foster for a free presentation of her new book, Columbia Gorge Getaways.Contact the Nature Store at (503)292-9453 for more information. Laura is the author of seven popular books on hiking and travel in the Portland region, including the recent Walking with Ramona: Exploring Beverly Cleary’s Portland. She regularly appears at Audubon’s Wild Arts Festival Book Fair. A book-signing will follow her presentation.

Celebrate the 20th year of the oldest and best native plant sale in Portland! Audubon Society of Portland will hold its annual native plant sale on Saturday April 23 and Sunday April 24, from 10 AM to 5 PM at 5151 NW Cornell Road, Portland. Highlights of our twenty year anniversary include over 100 species of native plants for sale, experienced gardener volunteers to advise and assist, and appearances by the Audubon Education birds of prey. Free and open to the public. All proceeds benefit Portland Audubon programs such as nature education, wildlife sanctuaries, and wildlife rehabilitation.

Crew Leaders are trained volunteers who are crucial to plant trees properly and lead groups of volunteers at more than 80 different planting events this planting season. Friends of Trees is aiming to plant tens of thousands of native trees and shrubs at more than 40 public planting events in the Green Space Initiative Program.
