The Urban League of Portland’s 22nd Annual Career Connections Job Fair will be held Wednesday, April 22, 2015, from 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM at the Doubletree Hotel (by Hilton), near the Lloyd Center (1000 NE Multnomah St, Portland, 97232). This annual event gives job seekers the chance to meet face to face with recruiters from some of the area’s most desirable employers. These recruiters come to the Career Fair to seek qualified diverse candidates for positions from entry-level to professional, from management to executive, ranging from construction and retail to government and corporate opportunities. • Portland and surrounding area employers are hiring now! • Employers are looking to the Urban League of Portland to help them recruit diverse job candidates! • Employers are hiring for positions from “entry level” to professional, ranging from construction & retail to government and corporate opportunities! • Now is the time to connect with Portland area employers! ‘Abilities in Motion’ to celebrate health and fitness for persons with disabilities Features International Paralympian, David Wagner The Connecting Communities Coalition, Portland’s only cross-disability group, will host its annual event, “Abilities in Motion,” from 5:30 – 7:30 pm, Tuesday, October 14, 2014, in the DoubleTree Hotel, Lloyd Center, 1000 NE Multnomah St., Portland, OR, 97232. The event is free, open to the public, and will include food and beverages. “Abilities in Motion” will highlight the large number of health, recreational, and fitness activities easily available to persons with disabilities in Oregon. The keynote address will be offered by David Wagner, internationally recognized paralympic wheelchair tennis player who is number one in quad singles and doubles in the world. David will share about his own untimely accident, which originally discouraged his lifelong goal to play tennis professionally until he discovered he could succeed competitively in tennis despite being in a wheelchair. David, who is formerly from Hillsboro, has been in the top three in the world since 2002 and has competed in the Paralympic Games in Athens, Beijing and London winning three gold medals, two silver and one Bronze. He is also a 14-time grand slam winner. The event will include Portland Mayor Charlie Hales’ presentation of the city’s Making a Difference Awards to four outstanding organizations. It will also include videos about sporting, fitness and recreational events throughout Oregon. And, adaptive sporting equipment and information about events and programs will be available.
