How can today's Movement for Black Lives lead us toward Black liberation? How are contemporary racial justice movements challenged, hindered, or empowered by the histories that produced them? In short, how do we get to the next step? Keeanga-Yamahtta Taylor's latest book takes on these tough questions. Let's read it, and then get together to talk it over. For our next meeting, on Sunday 3/19, everyone will aim to read the introduction (posted on the main group page) and at least one other chapter. If possible, think about the argument(s) made in the chapter(s) you select: exactly what is Taylor arguing and what evidence backs up her claims? Then share your insights at our discussion. Finally, don't forget to follow up on the social justice commitments you made at our last meeting. We'll be checking in that, too. Excited to see and talk with you all in a couple weeks! https://www.facebook.com/events/1256195151123275/
