Safety & bullying in schools: what can we do? This is an open forum discussion on bullying in schools that invites members of the Portland community to discuss bullying, it's impact on learning and the community, causes, and what we can do about it. Guest speakers will kick things off providing their different perspectives followed by an open discussion. We'd like to hear from all voices and points of view. Speakers: We have three great speakers lined up: Dawn Menken has a Ph.D in Clinical Psychology, is former Dean on the faculty of the Process Work Institute. Dawn is the author of "Raising Parents, Raising KIds: Hands on wisdom for the next generation" and "Speak Out! Talking about love, sex and eternity". Dawn launched Teens Rise UP (TRU), an anti-bullying progam for schools, and develops leadership skills in diverse groups of teens through the Summer Youth Leadership Intensive. Motherhood inspires Dawn's work in social action, creating community and group work. Ingrid Rose is the author of "School Violence: Studies in alienation, revenge & redemption", holds two doctoral degrees, is on the faculty and former Dean of the Process Work Institute. She has worked on issues of human interaction and growth internationally for over 3 decades and appreciates any opportunity to deepen awareness around social issues. Shannon McClure is the Assistant Principal at Metropolitan Learning Centre in Portland. Shannon has an extensive background in teaching, administration, community organizing and art, and is an advocate for students and families. She has strong skills in facilitating dialogue and building support among staff, students and community to promote positive social change. Facilitated by students of the Master's program in conflict facilitation. http://www.facebook.com/events/236244210040655/

How does this affect you personally: as a Person of Color? as a White person? How does this reality influence how we practice and present PW? How does this impact the PW community as a whole? This Open Forum will be hosted and facilitated by MAPW4 cohort and we warmly invite you to come share your experiences and viewpoints. ALL voices welcome, and truly, needed MAPW4 students will begin the exploration and then opportunity for everyone to participate. * 2010 Census ** This is a free event http://www.facebook.com/events/955751214483277/

The Process Work Institute, in collaboration with Teens Rise Up (TRU) and 361ArtWorks presents: Summer Youth Leadership Intensive July 13-17, 2015 at the Process Work Institute, Portland, Oregon This 5-day intensive workshop is for teens aged 15-18 who want to develop their leadership capacity and make an impact in their friendships, their families, their communities and the world. Teens will learn innovative methods to increase personal power, develop creativity, strengthen relationship and facilitate conflict within themselves and in groups. The course will gather a diverse group of young people with a variety of backgrounds and life experience. The diversity of the group will offer students the opportunity to learn more about difference, explore the roots of conflict and to find their authentic voice and the courage to use it. Our use of the arts make it all the more fun and inspiring, even for so called “non-creative” types. Intensive leaders: Dawn Menken and Jan Dworkin. http://www.facebook.com/events/866402676744176/

Dreams are doorways to the other world, a shamanic passage, providing an enlightened-eye view from which to see and heal. They illuminate the shadow, highlight our judgments, awaken us to hidden gifts, introduce us to our deepest Selves, and point us toward our path of heart. The workshop will consist of: + Exercises to open the mind to dreaming + Concepts and discussion about dreams + Live demonstrations of dream work + Exercises to help you understand your own dreams Bring your most urgent questions, your nighttime dreams, and everything that calls to you, disturbs you, and haunts you. This workshop is an introduction to process-oriented views on dreams and is best suited for non-process workers or those who are new to process work. Tried dieting? Failed? So have 95% of dieters and the $60 billion diet industry is banking on your failure! People’s bodies, eating patterns, and even their resistance to diets are incredibly meaningful but terribly misunderstood. Body shame cannot be healed by weight loss alone. Any trustworthy diet program will focus not just on eating habits and exercise, but also on learning how to listen to the wisdom of your body and hearing the message it has for you about your power, beauty, and purpose. This class will consist of lecture and discussion, an innerwork exercise, and live demonstration. Begin building a relationship with yourself and your body that fosters self-knowledge and self-love.
