Join us for the largest regional Eco-Blitz! Novice and accomplished community scientists gather in themed teams to map and document the hundreds of species living at the Delta alongside professional scientists, using the iNaturalist app. The Sandy River Delta Eco-Blitz is part of a region wide, ongoing Eco-Blitz Series to find and collect data on the Portland-Vancouver metro area’s wildlife. This event is free, open to all ages, and no experience is necessary. Community members will be in groups with identification specialists who will lead them on an outing to observe species of interest. First session from 9:00-11:30AM, second session from 12:00-2:30PM, birders meet at 7:00AM. Plan on arriving at the Sandy River Delta about 15 minutes before the session you want to participate in starts for instructions and to divide into subject groups (tracking, spiders, plants, etc.) If you would like to use the iNaturalist app please download it prior to your arrival https://www.inaturalist.org ¡Únase a nosotros para el Eco-Blitz regional más grande! Make a difference while having fun and exploring the Sandy River Delta. Help plant trees to benefit the local habitat of the Sandy River right before it meets the Columbia. All ages welcome. Fun for groups, families and individuals. Pre-registration is required and space is limited. We provide: Tools, gloves, hot cocoa, coffee and snacks. What to bring: Water bottle, snack, extra clothing, shoes for the ride home, and camera or binoculars if desired. What to wear: Dress for the weather, clothes may get wet and muddy. Long sleeves, pants, rain gear and sturdy shoes or boots are recommended. What to expect: Estuary Partnership staff will distribute tools and gloves and demonstrate planting techniques. To reach the planting site, the group will walk together on a flat trail for 15 minutes. Volunteers will be planting for approximately 2 1/2 hours.
