Portland is known as a transportation planning hub, yet few people could tell you how it all started. There are two projects that set the stage for the current transportation system: The Mount Hood Highway and The Western Bypass. Both of these projects failed, however these failures gave rise to a focus on light rail, as well as a legal framework for future investment. George Crandall and Sy Adler are two transportation experts who will speak about these topics and their relevance to today’s issues. George Crandall is an accomplished regional planner and was the lead project manager on the Mount Hood Highway. Sy Adler is a professor of urban studies and planning at Portland State University and has extensive knowledge on the Western Bypass project. This event is free to attend, but let us know you're coming. RSVP here: http://bit.ly/1l4Kr4u Transportation affects the way we commute, where we live, and how we do business. The regional transportation lecture series will focus on projects that have impacted, and will impact, the way our city connects.
