This is a new process group that is convening after the 2016 Presidential election. This election cycle inarguably stirred deep emotions in the general population and fear in populations of color and for other marginalized identities as well. Our intention is to create a safe space that provides Unite Oregon community members a place to discuss what living in Oregon means during an era in which the “post-racialism” myth prevails while white nationalism takes center stage. https://www.facebook.com/events/1172109849493140/
Thursday, August 18, 2016 from 6-8pm
To our QTIR/QTPOC community – please join us August 18th from 6pm-8pm for a slam-poetry night under the full moon. The lunar cycle has had a profound effect and influence on people across the millennia, and on this night we would like to celebrate queer existence and resistance through community, poetry, and all other forms of art. We would like to welcome Queer People of Color interested to read/perform their poetry or bring any kind of art (paintings, drawings, photographs, etc.) into the space. We will also have an altar in the space to commemorate a safe space, healing, and the lunar cycle – everyone is welcome to bring items to contribute to the altar. We will have it decorated with fabrics, crystals, healing herbs, and others items. Please RSVP and spread the word! We look forward to seeing you all there!
