Curious about Portland housing issues? How to create affordable options in our community? What does that mean for your neighborhood? Due to growing demand, limited supply, and outdated zoning codes, many Portland residents are unable to find affordable housing options that serve their needs - and for many more, this has been the case for far too long. With over a thousand people a month moving to Portland, a trend that may result in the addition of 260,000 residents by 2035, our city is at a crossroads. We are pleased to announce that Eli Spevak, representing the new Portland for Everyone campaign will be giving a presentation at the P4E Social Hour at Communitecture's office. Mark Lakeman will also share his vision for providing housing for everyone in Portland. Please join us for light refreshments and an informative presentation about proposed zoning changes to encourage affordable housing development. About the speakers: Eli Spevak is the owner of local development company Orange Splot LLC, and currently serves on the Portland Planning & Sustainability Commission. Mark Lakeman is the owner of Communitecture, Inc. Architecture | Planning | Design and the founder of the City Repair Project. The VBC 15 Placemaking Team - Mark Lakeman/ Mocean, Sarahope Smith, Kirk Greener Rea & Ridhi D'Cruz will be available for in-person consultations regarding your placemaking community project. *WHY* We value one-on-one conversations with you, as this helps us identify your needs and better support you throughout the process. Our team supports around 40 placemaking sites/projects every year, making these early conversations a really good strategy for starting off with a strong foundation of trust and understanding. And what better way to do that, than by sipping tea together. *WHO SHOULD COME* All placemakers! If you’re interested in hosting a site this year, whether new or old, we advise you to come check-in with us! *RSVP/ QUESTIONS* vbcplacemaking@cityrepair.orgc http://www.facebook.com/events/631109783660758/
