City of Portland Water Bureau plans to cut 31 mature trees, 13 of which are caliper 14” or more; 50 MORE trees will be impacted in the root zone (working to confirm that includes 2 HERITAGE trees)!! All this because they want to decommission a pipe by removing it, put in new pipes, and expand roads during the reservoir disconnection project. There will be no city council vote on this deforestation of our natural resources on Mt Tabor Park. Public comment is needed NOW. Please contact City Commissioner Nick Fish who has charge of the Water Bureau and tell him to pursue other options that will leave our beautiful park intact.
