More about Krista Herring: Soulful, elegant prose set to the beat of an acoustic guitar and delivered by powerful, captivating vocals that are at once angelic and earthy. This is what you can expect to hear from Portland singer songwriter, Krista Herring, who has been said to have “an evocative grace, affecting presence, and raw acoustic sound reminiscent of the late Eva Cassidy, vocals to match both the pitch and dulcet resonance of Jewel, and a captivating elegance, and magnetism all her own,” with songwriting compared to such greats as Patty Griffin, and soulful, searching themes compared to Ray Lamontagne. www.kristaherring.com More about Johanna Beekman: Johanna Beekman is unique among kirtan artists. Her velvety voice, her creative reinterpretations of classic chants, and her open-hearted presence come together to create unforgettable musical experiences. Many of her chants interweave Sanskrit chants with their English translations. Some are unison meditations, some are ecstatic call-and-response jams, and all are paths to a deeper awareness of Source. In the words of Portland kirtan leader David Ronen, "Johanna brings a spirit that is deep, devotional, earthy, bluesy, wild, and lots of fun." Johanna has been writing, performing, and recording a wide variety of original music for more than half of her life. Her just-released album, The Edge of Divine, includes many of her most popular songs from her years performing as a singer/songwriter. She's now raising funds for Heart Beats One, an album of original kirtan music to be released in 2014. www.johannasings.com/ More about Venus Christ: Venus offers her gifts to us in the humble embodiment of a girl & her guitar: opening & realizing herself as a conduit for divine love & passion. She has been a poetess & songstress all her life; pulling heart & guitar strings alike. Her songs offer lucid lyrics delivered by a timeless tender vulnerable vibrato. She draws melodic & story telling inspiration from deep wells of a childhood immersed in traditional Hebrew prayers & Joan Baez, Nina Simone, Kate Bush, & Odetta. www.zipporahdoula.com & www.happyhysteria.wordpress.com More about Niema Lightseed: Niema is a word artist, weaving spells of harmony and transformation through heroic poetry, mythic Yoga, and theatrical ritual. Her blend of sweet sacredness and saucy sexiness creates a linguistic ride through the deeply raw and fully sublime aspects of love, life, and our (s)hero's journey. www.niemalightseed.com http://www.facebook.com/events/601557419881792/
