An experiential weekend workshop with 8 Shields PDX and Jon Young Experience the 8 Shields nature-connection mentoring model while learning to build more resilient communities through practices of peacemaking. The 8 Shields model provides a map to the principles and practices of peacemaking. When we embody these principles, many conflicts can be avoided altogether, and conflicts that do arise can be managed with respect for all. Join mentor, naturalist, and author Jon Young and a team of local nature-connection mentors as we:  Learn how the 8 Shields model supports community balance and stability  Explore communication skills based on peacemaking traditions and nature connection  Learn about “invisible structures,” an important concept in social permaculture  Practice core routines of peacemaking, mentoring, and nature connection Concurrent programs for children (ages 3–9), youth (ages 10–15), and adults. This is the last of four weekend workshops held at Cedar Ridge Retreat in Vernonia, OR. If you are a teacher this workshop can be taken for 2 continuing education (CEED) credits through PSU.
