The Portland International Film Festival is the Northwest Film Center’s annual showcase of new world cinema. Now in its 39th year, PIFF includes 97 features and 62 short films from three-dozen countries. For full information about the Festival, check out http://festivals.nwfilm.org/piff39/ This screening brings us: 600 MILES DIRECTOR: Gabriel Ripstein - MEXICO Winner of the Best First Feature Award at the Berlin Film Festival, 600 Miles is a riveting thriller about gun trafficking between the United States and Mexico how the war against drugs has ruined lives on both sides of the border. Arnulfo is a low-level Sinaloa cartel operative who moves weapons illegally to Mexico. All appears to be going well but, unbeknownst to him, he is being tracked by American ATF agent Hank Harris. When an attempted arrest goes wrong, Harris is kidnapped and spirited across the border to Mexico. When things get desperate for both of them, the two will need to trust one another to get out alive.
