Activism Object Making is a series of classes put on by Grace McMicken, a contemporary artist working in Portland. The contemporary art world is currently exploding with passionate artists who wish to see art as an arena for political protest and social activism. If you are passionate about making a positive impact on your community, consider yourself a creative, and want to make connections with other artists, come kick it with us on a Tuesday afternoon. In the first class, we will discuss specific social ills in the group that we want to bring attention to, look at current contemporary work other artists are making, and brain storm possible projects for the coming weeks. Every Tuesday we will touch base and set aside specific work time, but do expect to work outside of meeting hours. We look forward to connecting with you. Free to CSE Members, $5 suggested donation to non members, no one turned away. http://www.facebook.com/events/1604795769788427/

We are proud to announce - The Sharing Alliance of Community Supported Everything is facilitating a sharing and collaboration market Sunday, May 24th at the Alberta Guildhall. The Village Collaboration Market is a specially designed offers/requests activity for project collaboration and resource networking. Participants will be guided through a series of sharing circles and provided a paper tracking tool for recording exchanges and new connections. Everyone in the circle will most definitely walk away with needs met, new friends, and new opportunities to collaborate. Intermixed with the action will be a number of facilitator improv exercises, led by our friend AlphaLo, which are sure to break the ice and keep the vibe fun. This is an excellent way to learn how you can support friends and neighbors among your community, as well as find the support you need to move forward in your work. All requests are welcome. Bring your passions, bring your curiosity, and always remember - we're in this together! Event is free for Members. A $5 donation is suggested (but not required) for non-members. No-one turned away! Hey all! Following our continuing screenings of films with a cause, CSE is presenting the earthy documentary "Symphony of the Soil" to engage our inner farmers, gardeners and general stewards of the land. 'Tis the season to plant our seeds and ensure healthy soil biota for the health of our bodies minds and futures. Come join us in a relaxing, insightful event in which you get to lean forward in engagement while also kicking back (preferably not at the same time!) with new and old friends at the Community-Supported-Everything Guildhall. Popcorn will be provided and weather permitting, we'll bring the projector out to the backyard! It's a free event! Donations, snacks and friends are encouraged =] About Symphony of the Soil Drawing from ancient knowledge and cutting edge science, Symphony of the Soil is an artistic exploration of the miraculous substance soil. By understanding the elaborate relationships and mutuality between soil, water, the atmosphere, plants and animals, we come to appreciate the complex and dynamic nature of this precious resource. The film also examines our human relationship with soil, the use and misuse of soil in agriculture, deforestation and development, and the latest scientific research on soil’s key role in ameliorating the most challenging environmental issues of our time. Filmed on four continents, featuring esteemed scientists and working farmers and ranchers, Symphony of the Soil is an intriguing presentation that highlights possibilities of healthy soil creating healthy plants creating healthy humans living on a healthy planet. About Community-Supported-Everything (CSE) Mission Community Supported Everything is a hub for community transformation- a place to harness our ability to imagine, learn, and problem-solve to create tangible change. Our mission is to make solutions visible and translate ideas into action through direct participation. Community Supported Everything provides space, tools and classes to a thriving community of change-makers working towards a collaborative society. Vision We envision a society where the systems that we depend on are local, decentralized, environmentally regenerative, and community-driven. A society where we are able to have direct relationships with the people we rely on to provide our food, water, energy, healthcare and everything else, providing an alternative to large multi-national corporations that value profit over people. We believe our communities possess the creativity, ingenuity, and intelligence to solve our own problems, and that by developing small-scale solutions that meet our needs, we can provide models for other communities to do the same. http://www.facebook.com/events/1585767075036802/

Urinetown, the musical, is a satirical look at a town in the midst of drought whose water is controlled by a corporation. I am creating a concert version of the show in order to raise awareness about Nestle's plan to build a water-bottling plant in Cascade Locks. This is the first event, in which we will have an open audition/rehearsal time, culminating in a performance of 2-3 songs and a letter writing party. http://www.facebook.com/events/1666960656865159/

Help CSE organizers get the word out! We are SO grateful to have such an incredible community of supporters and contributors! SInce 2012, The Guildhall of CSE has been the hub for incredible transformative events and people! We've hosted trainings, gatherings, celebrations, organizing meetings, skillshares and even a community-led communiversity program! We are a crowd funded, volunteer run organization-- and as many of you know, one of our biggest challenges has been financial. Right now, we are in better financial standing than we have EVER BEEN! We are over 50% supported, more than half way to sustainability! THANK YOU to the 43 folks who support CSE as members, our fantastic co-working team, the incredible volunteers who give their valuable time and all of the mentors and supporters of different capacities…..old friends and new friends…. thank you! Here's the deal: We need to increase membership from 43 people to a minimum of 80, and fill 5 core volunteer roles in order to keep the Guildhall thriving! If we can do this, we'll be able to better distribute responsibilities and keep the collaboratively maintained meeting space on Alberta Street. If we don't make it…. then we need to begin the difficult work of examining what CSE would look like without the Guildhall. We're requesting support from those of you who can help with the membership drive! We'll have a few meeting this month to build momentum and work towards the goals! First meeting this Wednesday night! Please message Lorka Scher if you'd like to help but can't make it. As always, thank you from the bottom of our hearts! Hope to see you Wednesday! http://www.facebook.com/events/1612983442281923/
