The Teaching with Purpose Conference provides information, tools and materials relating to culturally responsive teaching. The conference aims to address legislation relating to culturally responsive education in Oregon and around the country. Keynote Speakers Tim Wise Tim Wise is among the most prominent anti-racist writers and educators in the United States. Named one of “25 Visionaries Who are Changing Your World,” by Utne Reader. Dr. Geneva Gay Dr. Geneva Gay is Professor of Education at the University of Washington-Seattle where she teaches multicultural education and general curriculum theory. Pedro Noguera Pedro Noguera is one of the country’s most important voices on education reform, diversity, and the achievement gap. National Presenters Dr. Christopher Emdin Dr. Christopher Emdin is an Associate Professor in the Department of Mathematics, Science and Technology at Teachers College, Columbia University, where he also serves as Director of Science Education at the Center for Health Equity and Urban Science Education. Dr. Lee Stiff Dr. Lee Stiff has taught mathematics at the middle grades and high school levels since 1971 after completing a B.S. degree in mathematics from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
