In 2012, the City Club of Portland published a study to improve Civics Education in Portland. To raise the profile of outstanding Civics Education work, City Club of Portland and Multnomah Bar Foundation are partnering to present the Civic Awards. The awards will recognize the innovative work of organizations, leaders, and students in our community that are engaging youth in civic participation. Please join us next Friday to celebrate the outstanding efforts of our 2013 Civic Award Winners! Momentum Alliance: for their inclusiveness and their work to nurture future social justice leaders. Oregon Community Foundation Community 101: for their innovative approach to facilitating student civic engagement. Kendall Jensen: Roosevelt High School a teacher, for her inspirational approach to connecting science curriculum to civic engagement. Following the presentation of the Civic Awards, Nancy Golden, Oregon's Chief Education Officer will speak about education reform in Oregon. Location: The Governor Hotel, 614 SW 11th Ave. Parking: A SmartPark garage is located one block away from the Governor Hotel at 730 S.W. 10th Ave. The Governor Hotel is accessible by bus, Portland Streetcar and MAX light rail. Cost & Payment Options: Luncheon tickets, for City Club members and up to two guests, are $23 each and $30 for nonmembers. Coffee/tea table tickets, for members and up to two guests, are $5 each. Coffee/tea tickets are available at the door on a first-come, first-served basis.
