The Zeitgeist Movement welcomes you to attend Zeitgeist Day 2017 Main Global Event at the New Globe Theatre in Brisbane, Australia on March 25th-26th with Peter Joseph and other special guests. Join international guests and innovative change-makers as we discuss how science and technology are leading the way towards a more sustainable and equitable future. Discover the possibilities of automation, innovation, artificial intelligence, 3D printing, critical thinking and communication methods and their role in the transition towards the Zeitgeist Movement's ultimate vision, a Natural-Law Resource Based Economy (NLRBE). Discuss how the current money-market system we live in is responsible for issues such as - poverty, corruption, pollution, homelessness, war and starvation - and how our understanding of the system can help us become the change we want to see in the world. Casey Davidson, The Zeitgeist Movement Australia National Coordinator will be hosting the event, joined by changemakers from all over the world, including the Founder of the Zeitgeist Movement, Peter Joseph. You will also have the opportunity to join in... - LIVE performances in the evening - Workshops on a range of topics throughout the day - FREE Vegan Food - Drinks at the bar for purchase - Valuable conversations with a dynamic group of deep thinkers, and a clear understanding of our current reality and possible futures. This page will be updated with information on presenters as they are added to the two-day schedule on Saturday and Sunday 25th-26th March, 2017. We look forward to meeting you on our journey towards global unity and abundance. IMPORTANT INFORMATION REGARDING TICKETS: As Australia is a long way for many of our regular main event presenters, as well as some other well-regarded changemakers who support TZM, we're reaching out to the wider Zeitgeist community to make contributions through ticket sales and phantom tickets (that's for people who can't actually get here but would like to contribute). If you would like to provide a more significant contribution, please email casey.d@zeitgeistaustralia.org (to avoid eventbrite fees). The Australian chapter of the Zeitgeist Movement are just people - we all work just like everyone else to make ends meet, but put our hard earned dollars into making this event a reality. We have managed to cut costs where possible - thanks to Paul from the New Globe Theatre for providing a free amazing venue and others who are volunteering their skills and knowledge. We also provide free food and exchange services wherever we can, to promote the values we stand for. However, some costs, such as flights for international guests are unavoidable. We need to raise about $25,000. Please think about this when considering your ticket choice. We are also providing some free tickets for people who are avid supporters of the Movement but are in a difficult financial situation. If you'd like to appy for a free ticket, please complete this funny quiz and we will email you with your results and possibly your ticket. Thank you also to Emboonite for his incredible work in creating the Z-Day Global flyer. Please check out more of his TZM and related designs on his facebook page. https://www.facebook.com/events/318028225221606/

Dual-function receptors in our skin make mint cool and chili peppers hot. Without the brain's dedicated centers for pleasure and emotional touch, an orgasm would feel more like a sneeze—convulsive, but not especially nice. Dr. David Linden, New York Times-best-selling author of The Compass of Pleasure, delves into how the organization of our body's touch circuits is a complex and often counterintuitive system that affects everything from social interactions to general health and development. With Amara Karuna Are you wanting a deeper and more satisfying love life? Do you find issues and blocks interfering with your sexuality? This Intro is followed by a demonstration class on Saturday morning, and we will do a hands on practice session Saturday afternoon! Register soon for the intro class to save your space. Open to Healing - Allow yourself to receive healing, relaxed pleasure in a totally new way! Learn to Give - slow, nurturing, healing bodywork around the pelvis and genital areas to bring bliss to your partner Learn Your Body - study the detailed and amazing anatomy of the pelvic area, and specific acupressure points for sexual health Expand Pleasure - Move deeper into sexual potential and skills with specific massage techniques See Introductory Video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0Ls2TH7N4xA The pelvis in a place where huge amounts of tension, emotions and toxins are stored, which block out our ability to feel aliveness and passion. This is a unique, slow and penetrating touch on the pelvic area, which most people have never experienced. It is relaxing, nurturing, healing and pleasurable all at once. This work draws from the techniques of sacred spot massage, Orgasmic Meditation, cranial sacral work, facia release, Rivers of Love bodywork, Taoist energy healing and cultivation, and deep tissue and acupressure bodywork. This is very deep work that touches into our core channel energies, and can bring up strong emotions and be very transformative. It is wonderful for healing any issues around sexuality, shame, or body image and for expanding our capacity for aliveness, pleasure, juiciness and full body orgasms. Opportunities to learn this work are rare, and usually costs for trainings are much higher, over $400 per weekend. We believe these are such important and needed skills that we keep the costs low enough to be accessible. "Taking Amara's class has enriched our erotic lives immensely. Not only has it provided extremely helpful geographic references to the pelvis, with techniques to dislodge energy blockages, it has enhanced our physical bond, and increased our capacity to experience pleasure. We highly recommend this class to anyone." The human body has trillions of cells, but only about 1/10th of those cells are actually human. The rest are microbes that live in and on our bodies, and collectively they’re called the “human microbiome,” and we couldn’t survive without them. They make vitamins for us, help us digest food, and battle disease-causing microbes, and they may influence our behavior, particularly in what and how much we eat. However, disturbances to the gut microbiome, perhaps through antibiotic overuse, have been associated with obesity, asthma, and autism. Understanding how a body’s microbiome is unbalanced or not functioning optimally may help lead to new and unusual treatments such as use of probiotics, prebiotics, and fecal transplants. (Really.) At this Science on Tap, Dr. Lisa Sardinia, http://www.pacificu.edu/about-us/faculty/lisa-sardinia-phd-jd, associate professor of biology at Pacific University, will explain what the microbiome is, how it can get out of balance, and how we may be able to restore health by deliberately changing the kinds or numbers of microbes that share our bodies. ***EVENT DETAILS*** DATE: Tuesday, April 4, 2017 TIME: Doors at 6 p.m. event at 7 p.m. LOCATION: Clinton Street Theater, 2522 SE Clinton Street, Portland, Ore. ** Please RSVP on Eventbrite ** Join us on Thursday, April 13th at 5:00 for an informal fireside chat with Congressman Earl Blumenauer at New Relic. Earl Blumenauer is the U.S. Representative for Oregon's 3rd congressional district, serving since 1996. His district includes most of East Portland and cities to the east of Portland. We will use this as an opportunity to learn how our top issues — Civil Rights, Women's Health, Gender Equity, and Health Care — are playing out on the national stage. The Congressman has an hour to answer any questions we have, and we will be drawing raffle tickets so that as many people as possible have a chance to ask questions. The Congressman will be available for from 5:30 to 6:30, so please show up on time and come prepared with questions. We are limiting this event to 200 people so we can all fit in the space, so please RSVP ahead of time if you’d like to attend. Light snacks and drinks will be served. PDXWIT is a community-based non-profit organization. Our purpose is to strengthen the Portland women in tech community by offering educational programs, partnerships, mentorships, resources and opportunities. We are unifying a supportive environment for current and potential women in tech, all of whom are committed to helping each other. Our goal is to bring together and empower women in tech and to encourage others to pursue tech careers. This is our step towards reducing the gender imbalance in the industry and addressing the current negative effects of that imbalance on women. Trans and non-binary people are always welcome at our events. https://www.facebook.com/events/1190457751073451/

On April 29th, we mobilize! OPAL and our partners in the Oregon Just Transition Alliance are calling on Oregon's Environmental Justice communities and anyone who stands with people of color and low income people to join the movements for racial, social, and economic justice as pathways to climate action. All individuals are invited to join to show solidarity. RSVP and share the announcement on Facebook here. Grassroots organizations, nonprofits, faith communities, academic institutions, and other groups can formally endorse and support this day of action: click here: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSe6RbDzdq5-romjZRPYexYckrkyNE_EZhQNqNKQfvxLv0wG4Q/viewform Individuals who want details as they emerge, join the action email list. Click here: http://eepurl.com/cCfXE9 Event Details: Where: Portland, OR When: April 29th, 2017 (specific time and location to be announced soon!) What: Visible direct action led by people of color and low-income communities who are at the front lines of environmental and climate injustice. What we know: - People of color suffer the worst impacts of climate change both in the U.S. and worldwide. Communities of color and low income people are disproportionately affected by natural and manmade disaster. We are the last to leave and the first to respond to disaster. Our communities already lack basic infrastructure to support us – from adequate transportation options to affordable housing and food access. These systems will fail during climate disaster. - Housing is a climate issue. Transportation is a climate issue. Energy, education, food, and jobs are climate issues. Every sector of our economy must transition to stop climate change. - Our communities are under attack by climate denial rooted in systems of oppression. A bold, urgent, collective response is needed. - Historically-marginalized people must lead the transition to advance justice, or the outcomes will not improve conditions for those of us who are most-impacted. Nothing about us without us! - Grassroots Global Justice states, “The climate crisis is a symptom of a deeper problem: an economy based on extraction and exploitation of resources and people. This economy benefits a few at the expense of communities and the planet. ... Climate Action must be rooted in justice. The frontlines of the climate crisis are low-income people, communities of color and indigenous communities. We are the hardest hit by both climate disruption––the storms, floods and droughts––as well as by the extractive, polluting and wasteful industries causing global warming. We are also at the forefront of innovative community-led solutions that ensure a just transition off fossil fuels, and that support an economy good for both people and the planet. ... People on the frontlines of the climate crisis know what action needs to be taken, and are ready to make change happen. We need our governments and global leaders to catch up with the people on the ground.” - The Climate Justice Alliance Principles state, “Living a good life in a good way can only happen by first recognizing that the root causes of the daily economic, environmental and social inequity that plague communities worldwide are also compromising the metabolism of Mother Earth; and that all real solutions must address both the economic and ecological crisis. This recognition is what defines the Climate Justice Movement." In Solidarity With All Movements for Justice - The People's Climate Movement is also mobilizing in Washington, D.C. on April 29th, with echo actions taking place nationwide. We stand in solidarity with impacted people around the country and around the globe to demand action to stop and reverse climate change, prepare for and adapt to climate change, and strengthen community to grow our collective power. - Environmental Justice was among the Unity Principles of the Women’s March on Washington: “We believe that every person and every community in our nation has the right to clean water, clean air, and access to and enjoyment of public lands. We believe that our environment and our climate must be protected, and that our land and natural resources cannot be exploited for corporate gain or greed - especially at the risk of public safety and health.” - Environmental and Climate Justice intersect the great issues of our time. Everyone who fights for racial, social and economic justice must recognize the urgency of this moment, and that our fates are bound. https://www.facebook.com/events/1250735871647787/

Join the People’s Climate Movement this April 29th in Washington, D.C. and across the country to stand up for our communities and climate. Throughout the first 100 days in office, the People's Climate Movement is organizing a country-wide arc of action, culminating on April 29th in Washington DC in a powerful mobilization to unite all of our movements. To change everything, we need everyone. Find out out to get involved and sign up for updates here: http://www.peoplesclimate.org We’re ready to fight back, and we are ready to build a resistance to Trump and Congress’ attacks on our climate, our communities, and our jobs that stands alongside the unprecedented Women’s Marches and other powerful rallies that shook the globe in the hours and days following the inauguration of Donald Trump and the 115th Congress. On April 29th, we will march for our families. We will march for our air, our water, and our land. We will march for clean energy jobs and climate justice. We will march for our communities and the people we love. In 2014, we said that it takes everyone to change everything. Now, with everything at stake, everyone has a part to play. http://www.peoplesclimate.org https://www.facebook.com/events/1904314703139244/

How can today's Movement for Black Lives lead us toward Black liberation? How are contemporary racial justice movements challenged, hindered, or empowered by the histories that produced them? In short, how do we get to the next step? Keeanga-Yamahtta Taylor's latest book takes on these tough questions. Let's read it, and then get together to talk it over. For our next meeting, on Sunday 3/19, everyone will aim to read the introduction (posted on the main group page) and at least one other chapter. If possible, think about the argument(s) made in the chapter(s) you select: exactly what is Taylor arguing and what evidence backs up her claims? Then share your insights at our discussion. Finally, don't forget to follow up on the social justice commitments you made at our last meeting. We'll be checking in that, too. Excited to see and talk with you all in a couple weeks! https://www.facebook.com/events/1256195151123275/

This is a repeat of the sold-out event on Saturday, February 4, 2017. Is the brain chemistry behind our love for chocolate equivalent to that which drives infatuation with a new lover, the love of a particular song, or addiction? How does the brain sort out pleasure and discomfort? What drives our decisions to stay with one person for life or go from one lover to another, never settling down? At this Science on Tap, Dr. Larry Sherman, neuroscientist at OHSU, http://www.ohsu.edu/xd/research/research-expertise/researchers/index.cfm?personid=2340, will focus on these and other questions that reveal much about how neurochemical changes can have major effects on our behaviors—how we love, what we love, and who we love. ***EVENT DETAILS*** DATE: Saturday, March 18, 2017 TIME: Doors at 6 p.m. event at 7 p.m. LOCATION: 3000 NE Alberta Street, Portland, Ore. In April 2016, SURJ National kicked off a yard sign campaign to mobilize white people to support the Black Lives Matter movement. They explain that the signs are "tools to initiate conversations around race in predominantly white communities." We now invite you to join our 6th door knock in the Sunnyside neighborhood! Actions like this are a great way to practice having conversations about racial justice with other white folks, which is something our POC partners have asked SURJ to do. WHEN: Saturday, March 18th from 1:30 - 5:30 WHERE: Meet at Multnomah Friends Meeting Space, on SE Stark between 43rd and 44th WHAT: We’ll start with a training, head off in pairs to canvass the Sunnyside neighborhood, and return to Multnomah Friends Meeting Space to debrief RSVP: Please let us know if you’re planning to show up! Follow this link to rsvp by Thursday, March 16th: https://goo.gl/forms/bprvNVbxB8zZmQZ82 WILL THERE BE SNACKS? We recommend that you bring a water bottle or travel mug to take with you while canvassing. If you’re unable to come on March 18th but wish to remain involved, stay tuned! There will be more opportunities to do so in the future. https://www.facebook.com/events/1639573783017717/

The next life-changing Heart of Now weekend workshop will be in the Dexter, Oregon March 17-19th at Lost Valley Education Center. At our weekend workshops, the saying "the truth is within you" comes to life. During the Heart of Now, you will have the opportunity to curiously explore what is true for you as facilitators guide you through a set of exercises. You will be encouraged to notice your thoughts, the words you use, your body sensations, and any emotions or feelings that come up over the weekend. You'll be supported in your exploration by open-hearted questions, reflections of other participants, and our committed facilitator and assistant team. Heart of Now often brings clarity to those with confusion, healing to those carrying emotional burdens, connection to those who feel isolated, and inspiration to those who feel stuck. In addition to working well for individuals, Heart of Now also works well for couples. Each person will get time to focus on themselves as an individual, and time to be supported as a couple. In the last portion of our workshop, Heart of Now focuses on bringing what you've learned into the rest of your life. Heart of Now also provides several ways for you to continue your growth and your connection with the Heart of Now community, including practice groups in Portland, Eugene and Newport and the opportunity to assist at future workshops Bountiful and healthy meals will be provided from Saturday breakfast through Sunday Lunch. Blessings, The Heart of Now Team _________________________ Here's what a couple of Heart of Now graduates have said about their experience: "I just wanted to express again how grateful and blessed I feel to have met each and every one of you and experienced the weekend with you. The level of connection was absolutely amazing and I feel a true breakthrough happened in my life. I would place my Heart of Now experience as one of the most transforming and reclaiming experiences of my life. I want to say thank-you to each and every one of you for being a part of the toolbox to help me rebuild my experience, presence, truth, validation and happiness. And thank you, also, for letting me be a part of your own transformations. I feel honored to have witnessed you all. I feel a family was built over the weekend and I hope to continue to be connected with each of you." - Myrya M "This has greatly affected my life in a positive way. Not a day goes by that I don't feel fortunate for having experienced the Heart of Now. Nothing I have ever done has had nearly this lasting effect!" -Fogarty "Participating in the Heart of Now, as both a student and assistant, has deepened connection with myself, others, and spirit. The practice of honesty is so empowering in my life. I breathe, tune into my body, see what is real for me, and speak my truth - letting go of wanting any results. I continue to be blown away when I share with others something that I thought was wrong with me, and it actually brings me closer to them. I feel this energy running through my body that had not been there for a long time." -Deb C.
