The nation’s largest sale and show of ceramics. This one-of-a-kind, free, three-day event offers the perfect gifts for housewarmings, Mother’s Day, graduations and summer weddings. More than 150 artists from Oregon and SW Washington will display and sell eye-catching serving and baking pieces, vases and vessels, wall art and other items for the home, garden and office. NEW IN 2015: NEW LOCATION: The Showcase’s new home—Veterans Memorial Coliseum—will create a cozier, more welcoming event for visitors. A more select collection of artists will be on display, with improved lighting and décor to provide an intimate vibe. The “Welcome Home” theme celebrates Northwest-made ceramic treasures for transforming your house or apartment into a warmer, more beautiful living space: Mugs for your morning coffee, serving pieces that warm up a dinner party, and garden sculptures that give you more to talk about with the neighbors. Proceeds from the sale of a special “Plates of Plenty” installation of magnificent hand-made dishware, created and donated by OPA members, will benefit Growing Gardens, a Portland organization that supports low-income residents with the resources and education they need to grow their own food. HANDS-ON LEARNING: Clay Education Areas for adults and children, with potters’ wheels (for adults), handbuilding tools and tips from experienced OPA teachers. Artists’ demonstrations for veteran potters and newbies. High School Ceramic Art gallery representing area schools. MUSIC AND MORE: Acoustic performances by local musicians throughout the weekend. Giveaway of eight $25 gift certificates, good for Showcase purchases. Browse the 150 booths for gift ideas for housewarming and host/hostess gifts, Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, graduation, weddings and more.

Equity is an admirable tenet to assign to an ideal cultural scenario. So why don't we simply subscribe to the truth - that we are all equal? We can tell our children that differences are to be celebrated and that it doesn't matter what we look like, right? If you don't notice that in reality, it still does matter (even though it shouldn't), then you are most likely white, because people of color have a very different perspective on systematic oppression. This is a big topic to unpack, but using Theater of the Oppressed to delve into the topic of race, culture and education, our workshop is remarkably playful! When parents and teachers make the commitment to explore issues of diversity, we are modeling for our children the kind of accountability that will lead to change, one step at at time. We hope you can join us! No one turned away for lack of funds. Please visit our website for workshop details, an interview with folks from the Mandala Center for Change (one of whom is facilitating this particular workshop), pre-registration (required) and terms of financial assistance.
