Join us as we mulch hundreds of native trees and shrubs that were planted this past winter! Our Tree Care events help to ensure the highest level of plant survival through our dry summer months. This project is in partnership with the Johnson Creek Watershed Council and Portland Parks & Recreation and is supported by the East Multnomah Soil & Water Conservation District and Metro. Please arrive around 8:45am to be registered and assigned to a crew. The event will start promptly at 9:00am. We provide breakfast snacks and hot chocolate/coffee, as well as gloves, tools and guidance. Please come dressed for the weather and wearing sturdy shoes and get ready to have fun! Looking to volunteer as a group? RSVPs are kindly requested for groups of more than 5 people - click HERE to do so. RSVPs are not required for individuals or groups of 4 or fewer -- you may simply show up! Please contact Jenny or Randi at (503) 595-0213 if you have any questions or need more information. We look forward to seeing you out there! This planting is generously sponsored by PGE

Summer’s almost upon us again, which means that your favorite neighborhood ciclovia is right around the corner! City of Portland Sunday Parkways, presented by Kaiser Permanente, is a series of five community events that promote healthy living by opening the city's largest public space - its streets - for people to walk, bike, roll, and discover active transportation! Besides all the active outdoor fun, the events strive to foster civic pride, stimulate economic development, and represent the investments that communities, businesses and government bodies are making in Portland's vitality, livability, and diversity. Last year over 100,000 people attended the events, with 250+ volunteers making it all possible. The first event of the season is coming up in Southeast Portland on May 21st, and we need your help to make it a success! Here’s how we need your help... • Mobile Superheroes to ride the route on your bike, keeping a watchful eye on the neighborhood and backing up the Intersection Superheroes. • Intersection Superheroes to command the barricades, making sure participants are safe from cars and neighbors are happy. Each shift lasts no longer than 3.5 hours, but you may sign up for more than one! ...and here’s how we show our appreciation! Every Sunday Parkways volunteer receives: • an HEATHER PURPLE Sunday Parkways volunteer t-shirt • refreshments before your shift • support before, during and after the event • a 2017 Sunday Parkways bandanna - volunteer for any three Sunday Parkways shifts across the season and it's yours! FOR MORE INFO AND TO SIGN UP: https://www.portlandoregon.gov/transportation/67621 Are you interested in helping with Sunday Parkways but May 21st doesn't work for your schedule? Volunteer for one of the other Sunday Parkways events on: • 6/25/2017 in North Portland • 7/23/2017 in Northeast Portland • 8/20/2017 in Outer Northeast • 9/24/2017 in Sellwood/ Milwaukie More information on these upcoming events can be found here: https://www.portlandoregon.gov/transportation/58929 See you in Southeast Portland!
