Free Public Lecture with Ralph Becker, former Salt Lake City Mayor and former House Minority Leader in the Utah State House of Representatives. With divisiveness and discord on the rise, finding ways to get things done in government has become not only more challenging but also a critical necessity. In this second lecture of the annual Leading Voices in Collaborative Governance Lecture Series, Ralph Becker will share insights from his experience bringing people together to implement solutions addressing complex issues such as homelessness, clean air, and transportation – efforts which have garnered national attention. The event is sponsored by the Collaborative Governance Graduate Certificate, part of PSU’s College of Urban and Public Affairs, and bythe Association of Oregon Counties, City of Portland's Bureau of Environmental Services, Metro, Prosper Portland, and State of Oregon's Department of Administrative Services.

As summer begins to wind down, so does another season of Portland Sunday Parkways. Come join us for our final 2017 event in the Sellwood/ Milwaukie area on Sunday, September 24th. City of Portland Sunday Parkways, presented by Kaiser Permanente, is a series of five community events that promote healthy living by opening the city's largest public space - its streets - for people to walk, bike, roll, and discover active transportation! Besides all the active outdoor fun, the events strive to foster civic pride, stimulate economic development, and represent the investments that communities, businesses and government bodies are making in Portland's vitality, livability, and diversity. Last year over 100,000 people attended the events, with 250+ volunteers making it all possible. The final event of the season is coming up in Sellwood/ Milwaukie on September 24th, and we need your help to make it a success! Here’s how we need your help... Mobile Superheroes to ride the route on your bike, keeping a watchful eye on the neighborhood and backing up the Intersection Superheroes. Intersection Superheroes to command the barricades, making sure participants are safe from cars and neighbors are happy. Each shift lasts no longer than 3.5 hours, but you may sign up for more than one! Every Sunday Parkways volunteer receives: an HEATHER PURPLE Sunday Parkways volunteer t-shirt refreshments before your shift support before, during and after the event a 2017 Sunday Parkways bandanna - volunteer for any three Sunday Parkways shifts across the season and it's yours! FOR MORE INFO AND TO SIGN UP: https://www.portlandoregon.gov/transportation/51516 More information on these upcoming events can be found here: https://www.portlandoregon.gov/transportation/58929 See you in Sellwood/ Milwaukie! The delicious adventures experienced by Charlie Bucket on his visit to Willy Wonka’s mysterious chocolate factory light up the stage in this captivating adaptation of Roald Dahl’s fantastical tale. Roald Dahl’s Willy Wonka Jr. follows enigmatic candy manufacturer Willy Wonka as he stages a contest by hiding five golden tickets in five of his scrumptious candy bars. Based on the cherished New Line Cinema holiday classic, Elf the Musical Jr. features songs by Tony Award-nominees, Matthew Sklar and Chad Beguelin, with a book by Tony Award-winners, Thomas Meehan and Bob Martin. Buddy, a young orphan, mistakenly crawls into Santa’s bag of gifts and is transported to the North Pole. The would-be elf is raised, unaware that he is actually a human, until his enormous size and poor toy-making abilities cause him to face the truth. With Santa’s permission, Buddy embarks on a journey to New York City to find his birth father and discover his true identity. Faced with the harsh reality that his father is on the naughty list and that his half-brother doesn’t even believe in Santa, Buddy is determined to win over his new family and help New York remember the true meaning of Christmas.
