Sisters of the Road, Right 2 Survive, and the Foster-Powell and Mt. Scott-Arleta Neighborhood Associations are collaborating to bring the community together for "Neighborhoods Without Walls: A Community Conversation on Houselessness" on the morning of May 19, 2018 at St. Mark's Lutheran Church. Attendees will learn about, and engage with, members of Portland’s houseless community to brainstorm ideas for solving community challenges relating to houselessness, and participate in discussions and exercises led by those with lived experience of housing displacement and survival outside. We hope you can attend. Registration is required and will be prioritized to residents of Foster-Powell and Mt. Scott-Arleta Neighborhoods. If you are interested to host a Neighborhoods Without Walls community conversation curated for your neighborhood, please contact Elspeth Tanguay-Koo at 5 0 3 - 8 0 3 - 4 1 3 5 or at Roadies-SPEAK at googlegroups.com. Join us early for morning coffee - doors open at 9:30a. Program starts at 10:00a. Refreshments will be served. Childcare is available with prior arrangements - see below. FAQs Are there ID or minimum age requirements to enter the event? We welcome participants of all ages in order to manifest broad inclusion of all our neighbors, and in order to promote a rich community dialogue. We recognize that children sometimes can be disruptive in a large space where activities fall outside their interests. Childcare will be available on-site for a sliding scale fee of no more than $10 per child, but shouldn't be seen as a requirement. Children are welcome to participate and play in our event space. Please contact Elspeth Tanguay-Koo for more information. What are my transportation/parking options for getting to and from the event? We invite you to inhabit transportation constraints that are consistent with those available to our unhoused neighbors. As you do so, we encourage you to journey with awareness of the limitations this may create in a typical work day in your own lives. Bicycle parking is available outside the north entrance of the building near the parking lot. St. Mark's Lutheran Church is served by TriMet buses 9 Powell, 71 60th Avenue, 14 Hawthorne at Stop IDs 7704, 7706, 4667, 4668, and 1793. Vehicle parking is also available in the parking lot adjoining the north side of the Church. How can I contact the organizer with any questions? Please reach out to us by email at Roadies-SPEAK at googlegroups.com or call Elspeth Tanguay-Koo at 5 0 3 - 8 0 3 - 4 1 3 5. This event is made possible through a SE Uplift Neighborhood Small Grant, and by the generous support of our community partners Space Monkey Coffee and Henry Higgins Boiled Bagels.
