Dolores visits a reunion of a high school she did not attend as a cacophony of characters try to determine her identity. Live music, physical comedy and absurdity run rampant. January 12-20, 2018 Imago Theatre – 17 SE 8th Avenue Fridays and Saturdays at 7:30pm and one matinee performance at 2pm on Sunday, January 14th ABOUT THE PLAY John, her husband, is continually ignored. Dolores, his wife, tells all she meets that she’s dying. The soon-to-be-gone and the invisible, Carol Triffle’s motifs, are lightly cloaked in this existential comedy of bad manners at a high school reunion. Triffle’s universe questions, comments, and insults with fire-words skewering each character. All are alone and desperate for companionship yet bound by their aloneness. Live music jolts the absurdity to bubbly heights and side tracks serious moments into comedic ditches. "The Reunion" can’t be codified and flies like a wild aircraft ricocheting off muddy memories, regrets and the uncertainty of hope. Dolores is an enthusiastic but reluctant pilot of her life. On her one and last night’s voyage, Dolores refuses to touch down. Nonetheless, all is good when she lands smoothly, easily and unharmed (almost). The cacophony and absurdity is accented as the ensemble of six each joins in as members of the reunion’s cover band.

From the team that brought you last year's renowned production "Jesus Christ Superstar" Experience the Shakespeare you’ve never experienced. Opening January 25th, Imago Theatre will host +Street Scenes’ unique theatrical production of William Shakespeare’s long poem “The Rape of Lucrece". With music by Matt Insley in collaboration with Jessica Tidd and a tour-de-force performance by both, this show is an exciting and remarkable opportunity to experience the poetry of Shakespeare in an accessible form. Until the original production, this poem has never been performed as a drama in the Pacific Northwest. The chamber art musical “The Rape of Lucrece” is an intense, intimate production featuring a combination of spoken word and song. This two-thousand-year-old timely story will be an emotional and compelling evening of theater. "The Rape of Lucrece" "... is a remarkably potent and necessary piece in light of its current context. The daily onslaught of headlines about the sexual assault of women by more powerful men - from movie moguls and actors to journalists and politicians - provides an effective backdrop for a piece that explores Shakespeare's mythic reworking of an ancient Roman tale." Prahlad Srihari December 06, 2017. Join us for a special benefit performance on February 1st when all proceeds will go to Sexual Abuse Survivors Movement/Process Group of Portland. The show runs Thursdays through Saturdays until February 10th. Curtain for all shows is 7:30 PM. Runtime is an hour and twenty minutes. Admission is $15 - $25. Tickets will be available at the door or may be purchased at www.boxofficetickets.com/bot/wa/event?id=325843 As the title suggests, this show has adult content and is not recommended for children. CDs may be purchased at the show. Contact Michael Streeter at CWPeducation@gmail.com for further information.

Artichoke Cafe presents an evening with award-winning cowboy poet Tom Swearingen and Western Music Association Harmony Group of the Year winners Notable Exceptions. Tom Swearingen is an Oregon horseman who tells stories of the people and land of the American West through original cowboy poetry that is often inspired by his own experiences and observations from the saddle. Tom brings his stories to life with rhythm and rhyme and a style that makes him a popular performer not only at cowboy gatherings and horse camps, but also in singer-songwriter circles and wherever else you find folks who appreciate well-crafted verse. Notable Exceptions, the duo Judy Coder and Jennifer Epps, are known in the world of western music for their finely crafted vocal harmony. Their original tunes are lighthearted and conversational. For accompaniment, Judy's tasteful rhythm guitar is right on the button; Jennifer sweetens the sound with tidbits of harmonica, rhythm instruments, flutes and whistles. The result is fun, fresh, bold Americana. All ages general admission $15 at Artichoke Music in advance or at the door (doors at 6:30). Also available at Brown Paper Tickets (subject to fee). https://www.brownpapertickets.com/event/3170788
