Description

In April 2016, SURJ National kicked off a yard sign campaign to mobilize white people to support the Black Lives Matter movement. They explain that the signs are "tools to initiate conversations around race in predominantly white communities."

We now invite you to join our 6th door knock in the Sunnyside neighborhood! Actions like this are a great way to practice having conversations about racial justice with other white folks, which is something our POC partners have asked SURJ to do.

WHEN: Saturday, March 18th from 1:30 - 5:30

WHERE: Meet at Multnomah Friends Meeting Space, on SE Stark between 43rd and 44th

WHAT: We’ll start with a training, head off in pairs to canvass the Sunnyside neighborhood, and return to Multnomah Friends Meeting Space to debrief

RSVP: Please let us know if you’re planning to show up! Follow this link to rsvp by Thursday, March 16th:

WILL THERE BE SNACKS? Food is not allowed in the meeting space, but we will provide light snacks to take with you as you walk. Consider eating before our door knock to stay energized. We recommend that you bring a water bottle or travel mug to take with you while canvassing.

If you’re unable to come on March 18th but wish to remain involved, stay tuned! There will be more opportunities to do so in the future.
