Alan Singley and Papi Fimbres have collaborated to create a genre-fusing, avant-garde, future-funk symphony. To achieve such unprecedented heights of sonic and harmonious aptitude they've united a nonet of elite Portland musicians dubbed: The Singley/Fimbres Orkestra. The symphony debuts Saturday, August 10th, 2013 at The Historic Old Church and features two trombones, two trumpets, flute, a bevy of analog synths, piano, organ, electric bass, and drums.

The compositions are strongly inspired by 1960's era composer David Axelrod, jazz luminary Charles Mingus, as well as a passion for tropical rhythm and electronic sound effects. The Singley/Fimbres Orkestra create a joyous, complex sound, and for it's curators, also stands as a testament to patience, perseverance, and friendship.

Upon first meeting in 2003, Singley and Fimbres climbed upon a roof of a house near Alberta Street and conceived of the project beneath perfect moonlight, swathed in youthful ambition. Over the next decade they acquired the expertise and tools required of such a feat and, since June of 2012, have busied themselves sculpting their opus from dozens of demos and notes across four time zones.

This event will very likely be a one-time-only affair as Singley and Fimbres are known for their prolific nature and not looking back. Join us as we enter a diverse musical world and witness the fruition of The Singley/Fimbres Orkestra.
